Johnson rises up the rankings

Johnson defeated 2010 champion Louis Oosthuizen and Australia’s Marc Leishman in a four-hole aggregate play-off at St Andrews after the trio finished tied on 15 under par.

Oosthuizen moved from 17th to 13th as a result, with Leishman jumping from 61st to a career-high 27th.

Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth finished a shot outside the play-off and remains second in the rankings behind Rory McIlroy, who missed the defence of his title due to an ankle ligament injury suffered playing football.
