Jason Day’s participation in Thursday’s running at the WGC-Dell Match Play Championships seemed in doubt when he tweaked his back on his final hole on Wednesday, but you can never write the Australian off.
The 2015 PGA Championship winner could barely stand as he headed for the clubhouse after downing Graeme McDowell, having injured his back during his tee shot on the 16th, the hole on which he secured victory.

Question marks were raised as to whether Day would be fit to play on Thursday, but not only did he take his place to face Thongchai Jaidee at the Austin Country Club, but he started in incredible fashion.

Yes, he stepped up to the tee and smashed his first drive 381 yards onto the green and an eagle-two. Not too shabby.
