Day edges ahead of McIlroy

Australian golfer Jason Day has climbed a place in the world golf rankings to number two, edging ahead of Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy.

The rise in the rankings for Day was due to the PGA Championship winner finishing in a tie for 11th place at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Sunday, while McIlroy was inactive last week.

American Jordan Spieth still rules the roost at the top and is likely to stay there for some time being almost two points clear of second-placed Day.

Another mover in the top 10 is South African Branden Grace, who replaces American Jim Furyk in 10th place.
