Grace on the brink of top 10

Branden Grace is on the verge of becoming one of the world’s top 10 golfers while Brandt Snedeker and Younghan Song make significant climbs up the rankings.  

Grace defended the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters title over the weekend when he saw off valiant challenges from Rafa Cabrera Bello, Thorbjørn Olesen, Bredley Dredge, Andrew Johnston and Lee Slattery.

Grace remains at world number 11, but narrows the gap to number 10 Jim Furyk to less than a tenth of an average point. Cabrera Bello climbs 27 places to 85th, Olesen is up 18 spots to 63rd, Dredge up 50 to 174th, Johnston up 42 to 202nd and Slattery up 17 to 112th.

Snedeker won the weather-affected Farmers Insurance Open by a shot from K.J. Choi, with Kevin Streelman in third and Freddie Jacobson and Jimmy Walker tied for fourth.

Snedeker climbs 12 places to world number 12, with Choi up 197 spots to 137th, Streelman up 47 to 101st, Jacobson up 56 to 134th and Walker up 4 to 23rd. Jason Day, who missed the cut, slips one place to third, leaving Rory McIlroy, who did not feature this weekend, back at world number two.

Song won the weather-delayed SMBC Singapore Open by a shot from world number one Jordan Spieth, with Liang Wen-chong finishing third.

Song climbs 91 places to world number 113, with Spieth remaining at number one and Chong up 41 spots to 158th.
