Louis Oosthuizen managed the windy conditions at Doha Golf Club fantastically well as he took a share of the first round lead at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Having grown up in South Africa, the 33-year-old is accustomed to finding a way to post a score in gusty conditions. In fact, he enjoys the challenge of it.
“I like windy conditions,” said Oosthuizen.
“If it gets really strong, then it gets difficult.”
The seven-time European Tour winner has not played since the Nedbank Golf Challenge. However, his game looked in tip-top shape as he hit the ball crisply and putted with confidence throughout his seven under 65.
“Just having a good break and a good holiday, and it looks like I need to do that more,” Oosthuizen joked.
Pablo Larrazábal was equally impressive in the wind and he shares the lead with Oosthuizen. Björn Åkesson, Nicolas Colsaerts and Andrew Johnston are all only a shot off the pace.
