From its very beginning, Formula One has always been about living the high life. From driving the fastest cars to owning the biggest houses, Formula One drivers certainly seem to have it good.
But just how good is good, you may ask? Well here is a behind-the-scenes look at the luxurious lives that some Formula One drivers lead.
Estimated Net Worth: $280 – 260 million
If we are going to talk about glamorous lifestyles, we obviously have to begin with Lewis Hamilton. Other than being a full time Mercedes Benz driver, the four-time world champion is also an A – list celebrity.
During his time off the track, Hamilton frequents Hollywood events, hangs out with other A – listers and has also been linked to numerous lovely ladies such as Rita Ora, Sophia Richie and Winnie Harlow.
The Mercedes driver is also the new global menswear ambassador of Tommy Hilfiger and has a series of other endorsement and sponsorship deals with IWC, Monster Energy Drinks, L’Oreal, Bose, Puma and MV Agusta Motorcycles.
The reigning world champion is reported to be on the verge of signing a new deal with Mercedes that could be worth $53 million a year. However, even without the new contract the 33-year-old is already doing pretty well.
With his $46 million earned last year, the Briton took the 10th place spot on the 2017 Forbes World’s Highest-Paid Athletes list.
Hamilton owns houses in Monaco, London and New York. He also collects sports cars and most recently dropped $6 million on two Mercedes-AMG Project One hyper cars — one for him and one for his dad.
Lewis Hamilton is basically the ultimate Hollywood racer.
Estimated Net Worth: $120 million
Other than both of them racing in Formula One, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton do not have very much in common.
Unlike Hamilton, Vettel prefers a quiet and private life. In fact, he is the only driver on the Formula One grid that does not have a social media account.
But make no mistake, despite leading a relative simpler life than his fellow drivers the German is still a fan of the finer things.
Vettel resides with his childhood sweetheart Hanna Prater and their two daughters Emilie and Matilda in a medieval-style farm house in Switzerland that is worth around $5 million.
The Ferrari driver has an impressive car collection, including a VW people carrier and an Infiniti Vettel FX. The four-time world champion has also picked up a helicopter for himself.
Vettel’s 2017 earnings of $38 million puts him 14th on the Forbes list.
Estimated Net Worth: $220 – 200 million
Fernando Alonso may not have the Formula One car he desires but he sure does have the bank balance. Alonso’s $36 million earned in 2017 put him 20th on the Forbes list.
The Spaniard’s endorsement deals with Kimoa, Citigroup and Pirelli contributed $2 million to his 2017 salary.
The McLaren driver’s home during the Formula One season lies in Le Reve, a luxurious 52-storey apartment building in billionaire’s playground Dubai.
During the off season the two-time world champion and his girlfriend Linda Morselli split their time between Alonso’s summer homes in Switzerland and Oxford.
Estimated Net Worth: $200 million
Back in the day, Kimi Räikkönen was the ultimate Formula One party boy. His infamous tumble on a yacht in Monaco after having one to many drinks will go down in history.
However, over the years the Ferrari driver has swapped his bachelor pad in Helsinki for a luxurious family villa in Baar, Switzerland. Räikkönen dropped $24 million for a 3,000 square foot villa which he named ‘Butterfly’. The stunning home has both an indoor and outdoor pool and an underground garage that can accommodate 10 cars.
The Finnish driver also owns a home in Porkkalanniemi, Finland with his very own motocross racetrack built within the grounds.
Despite being considered Ferrari’s ‘number 2 driver’, Kimi’s 2018 contract still reportedly earned him a whopping $40 million dollars.
Estimated Net Worth: $20 million
Flying the Finnish flag yet again is Valtteri Bottas.
The Finn’s 2018 Mercedes contract came with a healthy $12 million dollars and if Bottas extends his stay in the team beyond 2018, it is very likely that this figure will increase.
The 28-year-old who has been a resident of sunny Monaco for 5 years now, finally locked himself into the Principality by buying an apartment that has an estimated worth of $1.5 million.
Unsurprisingly the Mercedes Benz driver likes cars and owns a Ferrari F40, Mercedes AMG GT, Mercedes Benz C- 63 as well as a McLaren 675 AT.
