Lewis Hamilton apologises for nephew dress remarks

Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has come under fire after posting a video of himself admonishing his nephew for wearing a princess dress.

Hamilton posted a Snapchat video making fun of his young relative for wearing a dress that he got a Christmas present.

In the since-deleted video, the Formula One driver calls out the young boy for his sartorial choice.

“I’m so sad right now. Look at my nephew,” Hamilton says. “Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is this what you got for Christmas? Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas?”

“Boys don’t wear princess dresses!” Hamilton then shouts.

While the video was probably intended as a bit of fun. Hamilton’s social media accounts were soon inundated with a tide of criticism from fans and others alike, with many pointing out Lewis’ own habit of wearing outrageous clothes.

Of course, this being the internet, not everyone agreed.

But Hamilton eventually posted a lengthy apology.

Just another day in Internet-land.
