03:08 Thank you for joining us for an edge-of-the-seat Qualifying session!  Tomorrow’s race is sure to be a nail-biter, so please join us for that at 03:00 tomorrow, when we’ll see if Lewis Hamilton can claim his fourth world title.  Until then, take care, and bye for a bit.

03:06 Here’s the top ten for you:

03:02 It’s all over, and a bit of last-gasp magic by Vettel sees him pip Verstappen by 0.086 seconds to claim the 50th pole of his career!  Hamilton is P3!

02:57 The drivers are out for their final runs, but Verstappen’s time is imposing…

02:53 First runs are done, and Verstappen leads the way on a 1.16.574, a quarter of a second up on Vettel.  Hamilton is P3, 0.360 seconds off Verstappen.

02:48 Time for the business end of things, here’s Q3!

02:42 And that’s it for Q2! Five more drivers are out.  It’s no surprise that the two McLarens opted not to run, since they have a myriad of grid penalties anyway.

02:39 Verstappen has certainly thrown down the gauntlet, but we have the two Williams, the two McLarens and Hartley in trouble…

02:36 Hamilton goes top, before Verstappen chops half a second off the benchmark.  Meanwhile, trouble for the sole surviving Toro Rosso…

02:31 Here’s the early order for you.  Hamilton is on a rapid lap…

02:26 Green light, it’s time for Q2!  Out comes Stoffel Vandoorne to get us underway, and he’s followed out by Bottas and Hamilton.

02:23 Alonso is happy with his McLaren for once, telling his team that the car feels “really good”.

02:20 That’s it for Q1! Both Saubers, both Haas’ and the Toro Rosso of Gasly are out.

02:15 We’re into the final few minutes of Q1 now, we have both Haas’ the Sauber of Ericsson, Vandoorne and Gasly (who hasn’t done a lap) in danger. Meanwhile, they’ve been trading fastest sectors at the front.

02:10 Perez has thanked his Mexican fans for their support and has put his money where his mouth is with P6 for the moment.

02:05 Lewis Hamilton leads the way on a 1.17.518, less than a tenth ahead of Bottas.  Verstappen is P3 for Red Bull, ahead of the two Ferraris.

02:00 And there’s the green light! It’s time for Q1!   It doesn’t look like a certain Toro Rosso youngster will be taking part…

01:55 Here’s that all-important weather information, pleasant and warm conditions all round.

01:50 Grid penalties for both McLaren drivers and Pierre Gasly will see them start towards the back of the grid.  The Toro Rosso man, in particular, is up against it, having completed only 10 laps of practice on Friday before his car crawled to a halt early on in FP3.

01:45 Valtteri Bottas will also look to reverse his one-lap fortunes.  The Finn has failed to out-qualify Hamilton since the summer break, despite entering the annual holiday with a Saturday scoreline of Hamilton 6 – 5 Bottas.  He’s looked comfortable so far this weekend, can he hook it all up when it matters?

01:40 With Nico Rosberg retiring at the end of last year, Lewis Hamilton is the only driver on the current grid to claim pole in Mexico.  The Mercedes man will have to work for it today, but he’s been phenomenal over one lap so far in 2017.

01:35 Max Verstappen was fastest for Red Bull earlier on in FP3, but with only four tenths of a second covering the top six, this particular fight for pole could be a close one.

01:30 Hello again, welcome back to FOX Sports Asia’s coverage of Qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix! In 30 minutes, all the cards will be put on the table, and the matter of who exactly is fastest over one lap will be settled.
