Massa: Not far off expectations

Felipe Massa reckons Williams could be paying the price for a good second half to 2014 as they have slipped behind Ferrari in the pecking order.

Although Williams were third in last year's Championship, the Grove team finished the campaign as the second best team out on track.

This year, though, they have fallen behind Ferrari in the battle to be best of the rest after Mercedes.

Massa told UOL Esporte: "We had a very good second half of last year but other teams began preparing earlier than us and have a good car.

"We are not as we expected, but not far off."

He added: "Our team is third in the Championship.

"The Mercedes continue to impress since last year and are the best on the grid. Ferrari have greatly improved their power unit from last year to this. They also have a more competitive car than ours.

"We will continue this fight against Ferrari and Mercedes."

The Brazilian revealed that Williams will be heading to the next race, the Spanish GP, with "new parts" for the FW37.

"With the new parts we hope to develop a little more," he said, adding, "but the other teams are also and can evolve."
