Hamilton goes golfing… in the clouds

If you’re following Lewis Hamilton on Instagram, you probably wouldn’t think that in just a few days time the Briton will be waiting for the lights to go out at the season-opening Formula 1 race.

The Mercedes driver has been enjoying a trip to New Zealand before heading over to Australia for Sunday’s race in Melbourne, and it certainly seems like he’s been enjoying himself.

Hamilton was in the headlines for the wrong reasons on Wednesday when it was revealed that he was being investigated by New Zealand police for allegedly using his mobile phone while riding a motorbike.

The 31-year-old has now been hitting golf balls from a rather elevated platform…

Driving biodegradable golf balls above the clouds!! Unreal experience! #newzealand #southisland #views

Critics may disagree, but Hamilton was quite happy with this effort.

For someone that doesn’t play golf, I’m happy with this shot?? Don’t hate the player, hate the game! ? A video posted by Lewis Hamilton (@lewishamilton) on

Let’s hope he does a little better when he gets on track.
