Now, the Australian has explained just why he decided to make the switch, and his words certainly hold weight.

Daniel Ricciardo talks Renault and decision to leave Red Bull

Having suffered a disappointing retirement in his home race at Melbourne, things haven’t gone according to plan for the former Red Bull driver, but hopes are still high that come the end of the season, Renault could buck up and challenge the top three teams.

Max Verstappen, on the other hand, looks ready to fight for the World Championship, and his performance today proved he can hang with the two Mercedes drivers even though he had to be content with just a podium position.
