The 2019 Formula One season is upon us, and the action begins with the Australian Grand Prix, emanating from Melbourne. The F1 campaign this year promises to be exciting, and Matthew Marsh has all the insight before we get going down under.

Daniel Ricciardo is undoubtedly the crowd favorite heading into this one, and though the Aussie is hardly fancied in his new Renault, all eyes will be on the local boy as we begin with Qualifying on Saturday.
‘Fresh and exciting’ is the order of the new season, with only Mercedes and Haas retaining last season’s driver pairing. Moreover, half the field is below 25 years of age, with Thai-British driver Alexander Albon and Charles Leclerc both falling in that category.
Many believe Leclerc can pip Sebastian Vettel this season, but the German will no doubt have a thing or two to say about that.
As for Vettel’s former Ferrari teammate, Kimi Raikkonen will be keen to get Alfa Romeo Racing back on top as he rejoins the team where it all started for him.
The usual suspects in Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel will surely be vying for the Championship, but in Leclerc and a few other fresh faces, there is scope for a new name atop the F1 2019 charts.
