21:09 That’s it for Qualifying in 2017 then!  We’ll be back to cover the race for you tomorrow, the action starts at 21:00, but our build-up will be underway at 20:00.  Please do join us for that, and until then, take it easy!

21:05 Here’s the rest of the order, great work by Ricciardo to split the Ferrari pair.

21:03 And there it is!  It’s all over! Valtteri Bottas has done the business and has pipped Lewis Hamilton to pole, the fourth of his career! Vettel is P3!

21:58 Out come the drivers for their final attempts…the last pole of 2017 is on the line…

21:56 Bottas holds all the cards right now, but there’s still time.  The drivers are in the pits, preparing for their final efforts.

21:53 The first laps are in, and we have Valtteri Bottas leading the way, just under two tenths clear of Hamilton, with Vettel a further half a second adrift in P3.

21:48 Right, time for the cards to hit the table!  Q3 is on! As a side note, congratulations to Felipe Massa.  The soon-to-be-retired Williams man is doing the business during his last-ever F1 Qualifying outing!

21:45 The final order for Q2:

21:42 Five drivers out! A late charge by Massa knocks Alonso out!

21:37 We’re into the final few minutes of Q2, we have some drivers who need an improvement…

21:32 Hamilton sets the pace on a 1.36.742, with Bottas two tenths down.  Vettel is P3, a further tenth down.

21:27 On comes the green light, here’s Q2!

21:25 Here’s the overall order for you.

21:21 And that’s it!  Q1 is done!  We lose five drivers, with Grosjean in particular falling short by the agonizing margin of 0.013 seconds.  The Frenchman is joined by the Sauber and Toro Rosso duos.

21:14 Lance Stroll’s been giving it everything, but to no avail so far as the Canadian is P16 and in the danger zone, along with the two Saubers and the two Toro Rossos.

21:11 There doesn’t seem to be much degradation, even on the ultrasofts, with the drivers able to improve on their second flying laps.  Bottas has jumped to the front of the queue with a 1.37.356, while Hamilton’s second effort leaves him 0.035 seconds slower than the Finn.  A good effort by Kimi Raikkonen sees him go P3, a tenth down on his Silver countryman.

21:08 The early order for you, the Mercedes pair are well clear of Vettel.

21:05 Marcus Ericsson is first to post a time, a 1.40.692, but that’s swiftly bettered and Lewis Hamilton takes over with a 1.37.473.

21:00 The light turns green, it’s go time, here’s Q1! Both Saubers and both Toro Rossos are straight out, and the Haas duo swiftly follow suit.

20:55 Here’s the weather for the upcoming session.  Cooler than FP3, but certainly not cold!

20:50 At least in terms of the season-long Qualifying battle, there’s no contest.  Hamilton has been magnificent over one lap all year long, and he thoroughly deserves the unassailable lead he has in this particular fight.

20:45 Coming to Qualifying, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel lead the way in terms of the current drivers when it comes to one-lap bragging rights in Dubai.  Can Vettel equalize today, or will Hamilton widen the gap?  Is it time for a new name to join the list?

20:40 It was a difficult morning session for Max Verstappen as well.  The Dutchman has enjoyed terrific form over the past few races, but he and Red Bull seem to be struggling to find the sweet spot this weekend.

20:35 Lewis Hamilton did the business for Mercedes in FP3, 0.273 seconds clear of teammate Valtteri Bottas, with the Ferrari pair some distance further back.
