Son Heung-min produced a captain’s display to help Korea Republic claim a 2-0 win over Honduras in a warm-up friendly ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Monday.

Following a goalless first half at the Daegu Stadium, Son – handed the armband in the absence of Ki Sung-yueng – handed his side the breakthrough when he received possession 25 yards out, and proceeded to unleash a ferocious left-footed drive into the far corner.

Then, in the 72nd minute, the Taegeuk Warriors made sure of the win when Hwang Hee-chan broke free down the left before his low cross picked out Moon Seon-min, who kept his cool to skip past a challenge before guiding a shot home to seal a memorable first cap for his country.

Korea Republic continue their preparations for Russia 2018 on Friday when they meet Bosnia-Herzegovina, and also have further matches against Boliva and Senegal before opening their Group F campaign against Sweden on June 18.
