Reports: Liverpool, Chelsea & PSG involved in five-way battle for star Italy forward

Lorenzo Insigne’s time at Napoli is reportedly coming to an end. The Neopolitan is rumoured to have fallen out with the club and matters came to a head when the Partenopei faithful turned on the player during their defeat to Arsenal in the Europe League.

According to Corriere Dello Sport (via Football Italia), Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain are extremely interested in bringing the Italian forward into their fold. The player, valued at €70 million, has been a long time hero for his local club. However, relationships have soured over the course of the season.

Rumours are also doing the rounds that both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are also interested in the Napoli winger. The former is seeking out a replacement for Ribery and Robben and Insigne’s speed and skill would make him an ideal candidate.

The Nerazzurri have confirmed the exit of striker, Mauro Icardi and are on the lookout for potential replacements. Napoli has long held an interest in the Argentine marksman and the likelihood of a swap deal involving Icardi and Insigne cannot be ignored.

Once indispensable to the club’s scheme, Insigne was relegated to the bench by Carlo Ancelotti ina 2-1 loss to Atalanta.

Fox Sports Asia Probability Rating: 3/5; Insigne has been on the radar of many top European clubs. The impassioned winger, however, has stayed on at his boyhood club for as long as possible. If rumours of a rift are indeed true, expect the forward to leave Naples, but for a foreign location.
