While Dylan spoke of a very different kind of revolution in Tangled Up in Blue, Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez is rumoured to be peddling an altogether different vision of it. It involves a €500 million transfer outlay and a whole host of fresh stars, including perhaps a certain Neymar Jr.
After an indifferent season for the Spanish giants, Madrid are reportedly in for a massive summer overhaul. According to Calcio Mercato, the club have identified a bunch of potential summer targets with names such as Paul Pogba, Eden Hazard, Christian Eriksen, Luka Jovic and of course Neymar being bandied about in the same breath.
While Hazard’s transfer seems imminent, recent stirrings indicate that Pogba too might join his Premier League counterpart at the Bernabeu. Further upfield, Perez is plotting to fill the Ronaldo shaped hole by wooing Brazilian hot-stuff Neymar. Although reports suggest that the club would rather sign Mbappe, the young Frenchman wouldn’t be an easy capture. Instead, the ex-Barcelona attacker would offer a less complex option.

Bundesliga marksman, Luka Jovic is another player the club are eyeing. Although it seems paper-talk, the Serbian would be a fine successor to Karim Benzema.
However, Madrid would have to bankroll a major chunk by offloading some of their existing stars. The likes of Isco, Modric, Kroos and Bale are potential exits and the club would look to extract as much value as is possible from their transfers.

The Madridista revolution will also be felt in the stands Plans are afoot to spruce up their iconic ground to give it a more state-of-the-art feel. At an estimated cost of €796.5 million (including taxes), it’s quite an ambitious project to take on. The club won’t necessarily be hard-pressed for cash, however. They have recently signed a fresh deal with Adidas to the tune of €1.6 billion over a period of 12 years.
Fox Sports Asia Probability rating: 3/5; Lads, it’s Real Madrid! The club is known for extravagant splurges and this is no different. However, Calcio Mercato is prone to conjuring stories when none exists, there perhaps exists some degree of truth in this. Definitely, expect a few big name moves, but perhaps not all.
