Barcelona interested in signing Dutch midfielder, confirms club director

Barcelona celebrate win against Manchester United

FC Barcelona recently concluded the signing of Ajax star Frenkie de Jong in a deal worth €75 Million. However, several sources now report that De Jong won’t be the only Dutch midfielder joining the Blaugrana in the summer, with another youngster being eyed over a potential move.

Barcelona are working on a deal to sign FC Groningen starlet Ludovit Reis confirmed club director Hans Nijland. Reis, 18, has made twenty-four starts for the Dutch side in the Eredivisie and has a goal and an assist to his name.

“We’re seriously considering the possibility that he leaves for Barcelona next season,” Nijland told Fox Sports (via Marca).

Meanwhile, Nijland also confirmed that they had already held talks with the Spanish giants about the youngster on two previous occasions. A delegation from Spain met with the club representatives both times, to discuss a potential deal worth around €6 Million.

If the deal is agreed, 18-year-old Reis will move to Spain and join Barcelona B, with a potential first-team spot being eyed for the future.

In the meantime, Barcelona also continue to work on a deal for Ajax centre back Matthijs de Ligt, who continues to be linked with the Spanish giants over a summer move. Bayern, Juventus, and Liverpool are also said to be in the hunt for De Ligt but the Dutchman is said to favour a move to Camp Nou.
