With the current season nearing its end, all the clubs around Europe have fast tracked their recruitment process and along with it, are handing out new contracts to the players they deem worthy.
In this quest, Manchester City have decided to hand one of their highly rated English players in John Stones a contract extension. The defender has been in and out of the side this season because of injuries but Pep Guardiola believes he is worthy of an extension.
According to reports in Mirror, despite the fact that Stones has struggled to cement a position, City are prepared to offer him a contract extension. The former Everton man will reportedly be earning £180,000-a-week deal, which is a 50% improvement on his current deal which sees him earn £120,000-a-week.
The 24-year-old had his say on the limited game time he has had recently.
“If it is five minutes, 20 minutes, full game, whatever, you have to be ready to fight for the team, to be unselfish. Everyone is together here,” Stones said.
