Juventus suffered a shock aggregate defeat at the hands of AFC Ajax in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals, and have been knocked out of the competition.
There were hopes that the Bianconeri could win the entire tournament after signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid for big money in the summer, but failed to negotiate the challenge of a young and hungry Ajax side.
Ronaldo scored in the game in Turin, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat, and as a result, his future at Juve has been cast in doubt.
Ronaldo and squad all sorry for exit – Allegri
Calcio Mercato are reporting that while manager Massimiliano Allegri wants to “try again” next year in the UCL, Ronaldo may want no such part in it.
The Portuguese superstar came to Turin to win things with the club, and has proved he still has the drive to push for silverware, but with the UCL now gone, there might not be enough for him to play for.
Where he goes or what he does is still unclear, but perhaps a reunion with Zinedine Zidane might just be on the cards? Only time will tell.
