Chelsea is fishing about for a new striker. Reports have surfaced of the club being interested in on-loan Borussia Dortmund youngster, Alexander Isak.
Alexander Isak, who has drawn comparisons with illustrious countryman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, moved to Borussia Dortmund from Stockholm club AIK in 2017. However, the young forward has failed to break into the first team on a consistent basis. Loaned out to Dutch club Willem II since January 2019, the forward has been scoring for fun.
With eleven goals in as many games, Isak has drawn the attention of many a top European club, most notably Chelsea. The Mirror reports that the London club sent scouts to watch him take on Ajax this weekend.
Chelsea’s existing forwards- Olivier Giroud and Gonzalo Higuain- are both over 30 and the club reportedly wants to stir things up in the striking department. Giroud has been linked with an exit himself while Higuain is set to return to Juventus at the end of his loan spell.
If reports are to be believed, Real Madrid is also monitoring his situation.
FOX Sports probability rating: 2/5; Simon Mullock (The Mirror) is fairly reliable and one can safely say that this is not faffed. However, sending scouts does not necessarily translate into ‘we want him at all costs’. Hold your horses on this one. Also, Chelsea’s transfer embargo makes this move a no go in the immediate future.
