It is already well known all across the footballing world, that La Liga leaders FC Barcelona are on the lookout for a striker next summer.
With an aging Luis Suarez showing signs of a decline in his abilities, the Catalans are doing everything that they can to find a worthy successor for him, and to keep the goals coming.
The above reasons made Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic the most favoured man to make a switch to the Catalan side in June, and the club has also been monitoring the youngster’s progress in the Bundesliga, where he has scored 17 goals and made 6 assists till date this season.t
Fans were hoping to see the 21-year old in the Blaugranas’ blue-and-maroon colours from the next season, but it turns out that their dreams have suffered a major setback, as of latest.
It is Spanish news agency Marca that reports that Barcelona’s arch rivals Real Madrid have developed a newfound interest for Jovic, and that they will look to rope him into their squad during the upcoming transfer window.

Real Madrid themselves are in the mood to execute a major squad overhaul, after failing to do well across all major competitions they participated in 2018-19.
Several key players failed to impress, and managers Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari were sacked, but not before the side got eliminated from the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. They have also lost all hope of winning the La Liga this season, but the recent reappointment of Zinedine Zidane at the helm gives them a huge boost in advance while preparing for next season.
Zidane has reportedly planned several huge signings in June and July, and as per Marca, this Serbian striker is one of them. The agency further adds that that the young star could fetch Frankfurt a sum of over £70million, in the event of a transfer.
Jovic is technically a Benfica player on loan at Frankfurt right now, but thanks to the huge interest on him by these top European clubs, Frankfurt will definitely activate the “purchase option” in his loan contract, so as to sell him at a huge profit later on.
FOX Sports Asia probability ratings: 3/5; Quite recently, Jovic’s father reportedly claimed that his son would stay on at Frankfurt for another season as he wouldn’t like to play second fiddle to a main striker like Suarez, but the situation could be very different at Real Madrid as the youngster has the chance to become Zidane’s first-choice starter, even ahead of under-fire Karim Benzema. That could attract Jovic to set out for Madrid but as of now, nothing can be made certain.
