Reports: Barcelona put Jovic move on hold to target four other players

Barcelona aren’t exactly a club in crisis. However, the Blaugrana are heading towards disaster with a lack of proper back up in certain positions. One of those positions is that of the striker, which is currently occupied by Luis Suarez only. And so, the club is working hard at finding a back up to the Uruguayan, who can take over in the long run.

Luka Jovic is one name that has been linked with Barcelona for a long time. The Serbian is enjoying a great season in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and has been touted to make a big move soon.

However, the Blaugrana aren’t the only ones in the hunt for Jovic. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea are also said to be interested in his services. That, in itself, has prompted Barcelona to withdraw their interest from the young striker.

According to Marca, the Spanish giants have decided not to head into a bidding war for Jovic and instead focus on other targets. Moreover, Jovic’s father had himself confirmed that the youngster was apprehensive about a move to Camp Nou due to a potential lack of playing time.

Four targets have been named by the Spanish news outlet as a replacement for Jovic, which are Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno, and Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona do end up moving for any of the mentioned targets.

FOX Sports Asia Probability Rating: 2/5; Snubbing Jovic for a striker willing to take the number two spot is a move that makes sense. Whoever the Catalan giants bring in will have to play second fiddle to Luis Suarez for at least another season. Therefore a move for Rodrigo Moreno or Nicolas Pepe makes more sense.
