La Liga leaders Barcelona are all set to offload a few players, predominantly to fund some incoming transfer options in summer transfer window.
One of them is Portuguese star Andre Gomes, who signed for the Catalans in 2016 but failed to create any impact. He is currently on loan with Premier League club Everton, and as per Don Balon, the Toffees are keen to make him their permanent player despite the loan deal not having a “purchase” clause right now.
It is estimated that Gomes will fetch Barcelona a sum of close to £15million. Considering how Barcelona had initially signed him for £35million from Valencia, it is a heavy loss for the Spanish giants but they will not mind, as reported by the Spanish agency.
Don Balon further adds that Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique – who are some of the principal heavyweights at Barca – have personally requested the club to offload the star. It hence appears as if there is no future left for Gomes within Barcelona.
FOX Sports Asia probability ratings: 4/5; Gomes to Everton is a deal that can definitely happen. The Portuguese player has done fairly well for the Toffees this season, and Barcelona meanwhile is not interested in the player at all. Hence, despite a potential financial loss, Barca may still sell Gomes this summer.
