While it seemed fairly certain that Manchester United star Ander Herrera would move to PSG, rumours are now doing the rounds that Arsenal are a late entrant into this particular market.
In an interesting turn of events, Unai Emery’s past and present clubs are set to collide in a bid to secure the Spaniard’s signature. The Mirror reports that while a deal to bring him to Paris is in the works, Arsenal are quite inclined to scupper this move.
The report also suggests that his present club, Manchester United, haven’t yet thrown in the towel and are seeking to persist further. Although the possibility of him remaining at Old Trafford is bleak, Herrera hasn’t discounted this outcome either. Judging by his interview with Diario ABC, the defensive midfielder is keen to explore his options:
“As it is right now, Manchester and I are not thinking alike and there is no renewal agreement, but my duty is to keep listening to United.”
“What I know is that I’m going to continue playing in a big team.
“Obviously I will keep listening to United, but also to other clubs. I am not closing doors.”
Given the likelihood of his departure, Manchester United are looking to bring in Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye as his replacement. United have also identified West Ham’s Declan Rice and Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez as potential candidates.
