Reports: Real Madrid to beat out Barcelona for the signing of €70 million wonder kid

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic is much closer to signing for Real Madrid than Barcelona, or Bayern Munich for that matter, according to reports in the Spanish press.

El Chiringuito reports that the Serbian forward has a greater likelihood of signing for Real Madrid than arch rivals Barcelona or German giants Bayern Munich.

This comes on the back of Jovic’s father stating that his son was not interested in a move to Barcelona because he wasn’t sure of getting game time there.

Jovic, 21, has been in stellar form for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, scoring 25 goals and notching up 7 assists in 39 games so far.

Another report from Marca states that the forward would be available in the ball park of €70 million with around €26 million going to parent club Benfica after Frankfurt pay €12 million to make the loan permanent at the end of the season.

The transfer is also aided by the fact that Real Madrid and the Bundesliga side already have a good working relationship, with a number of players going on loan to Frankfurt from the Spanish capital.

Zinedine Zidane wants to orchestrate an overhaul of the Real Madrid squad with Luka Jovic, Eden Hazard and potentially Paul Pogba on his transfer hitlist.

FOX Sports Asia probability rating: 4/5; Real Madrid need a long term replacement for Karim Benzema and Luka Jovic may be a good fit. Also, there are more chances of him displacing Benzema from the team than Luis Suarez at Barcelona.
