Though Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has substantially improved the mood surrounding the club, there are still quite a few areas which need attention and holding on to their best players is one of them.
Players like Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are close to leaving the club if reports are to be believed and quite a few might join them in the mass exodus. Alexis Sanchez is another player who might be leaving the club in the summer.
However, according to reports in The Guardian, the biggest name that could leave the club in the summer is David de Gea. The Spanish goalkeeper enters his last year of the contract after this season, which means United could lose him for free.
Therefore, the club hierarchy is willing to let him go in this summer rather than wait till the next summer transfer window, in 2020, and let him go on a free transfer. Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo might be leaving the club as well, the report adds.
FOX Sports Probability Rating: 3/5 – It is looking more and more likely with every passing day that De Gea might be leaving the club and it would be better for United to let him leave in the upcoming window rather than lose him on a free deal next summer.
