The battles between city rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are almost always entertaining, whether on the pitch or off it. And reports suggest that the two Manchester clubs are set to battle again but this time for an FC Barcelona star.
Fierce rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are set to go to war over Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti, reports The Sun. The report states that the Blaugrana are considering listening to offers for the French centre-back, putting both the Manchester clubs on red alert.
Umtiti joined Barcelona back in 2016 from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais for just over twenty million euros and has become a key figure of the team. However, the twenty-five year old defender may be shipped off in June, especially if the Spanish giants end up moving for Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt.
According to several sources, Barcelona are highly interested in bringing the Dutch youngster to Camp Nou, having already completed a move for his Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong. However, the Blaugrana may have to sell one of their stars to make room for De Ligt.
Umtiti’s name has been put forward as the likeliest candidate to be sacrificed for the highly-rated youngster. Nevertheless, the Frenchman will reportedly be interested in a move to either of the Manchester clubs, with both having followed him closely in the past.
