Football stars tend to be at their best when there is a legend watching from the stands. As was the case when Buriram United played True Bangkok United in Thai League 1, with world football legend Oliver Kahn watching on.
Oliver Kahn, who is considered by many to be the best goalkeeper ever, visited Thailand as part of a Bundesliga campaign. The German league had tied up with Kahn and his goalkeeper training academy, Goalplay, to inspire fans as well as promote the league.
“I have many happy memories from playing in the Bundesliga, and I’m delighted that I can share them with my fans in Thailand. I’m also very thankful that I can share my knowledge and experience as a goalkeeper playing for Germany and in the best football league in the world,” said Kahn regarding his visit (via The Nation).
The former Bayern star was on a four-day visit to the Southeast Asian nation, during which he appeared in a Bundesliga fan festival, met with fans, and watched Buriram United face Bangkok United.
On the pitch, Buriram United put on a good display in front of the legendary goalkeeper. The Thunder Castles secured a narrow one-nil win over their rivals to go three games unbeaten. Pedro Junior scored the only goal of the match, after dribbling past two defenders and slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Kahn, meanwhile, would have enjoyed the performance of Buriram goalkeeper Siwarak Tedsungnoen, who put in a good display in front of the legendary custodian.
