Agent Federico Pastorello says that Antonio Conte was considered as an alternative to new Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti and doubts that Chelsea will land Antonio Candreva.
The head of P&P Sport Managament, the organisation who had a hand in Conte's move to the Premier League champions, believes that even though Conte can now be regarded as the top manager in the world, Inter made the right choice with Palletti.
“I was lucky enough to be involved in Conte’s move to Chelsea," Pastorello told Rai Sport.
"When you win the Premier League, you’re considered the best," he continued. “Inter wanted him, but ultimately they made a great choice in Spalletti. He’s the right Coach to relaunch the Inter project."
On the topic of the Blues' failed attempt at signing Inter forward Antonio Candreva in January, and the likelihood of there being a subsequent effort, the agent said that he believes the 30-year old is too crucial to Spalletti's plans at the San Siro to sell.
“Candreva? In the winter market, there was a need, with Oscar leaving, for Chelsea to intervene and they’d identified a possible solution in Candreva.
“However, he’d just arrived at Inter and Suning’s project sees its best players stay.
“Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible on that occasion. I don’t know if he’ll stay: I haven’t talked to [Piero ]Ausilio and [Walter]Sabatini, but knowing Spalletti’s system, I think he’s perfect for it."
