Aguero opened the scoring after heading home a Fernandinho cross and Raheem Sterling doubled City’s lead shortly after half-time.
The Argentine striker then bagged his brace as Pep Guardiola’s side scored their 100th goal in the calendar year before finally Danilo came off the bench late on to score his first goal in a City shirt.
The hosts started the game slowly as they struggled to create chances amongst a well-organised Bournemouth defence.
Nicolas Otamendi played a great lobbed pass over the top of the defence for Aguero, who controlled the ball before firing over from 12 yards out, and the defender then had a go himself as he stung Asmir Begovic’s hands with a well-struck effort from distance.
The visitors were eventually the cause of their undoing as Begovic failed to clear his lines which allowed Fernandinho to dink a ball towards the right-hand of the box, where Aguero stooped to head home his 100th goal at the Etihad Stadium.
Ederson was almost caught out shortly before half-time as he rushed out his box to prevent an on-rushing Callum Wilson which almost gave the striker the chance to shoot at an open goal before Fabian Delph intervened.
The league leaders doubled their lead shortly after the break through Sterling. David Silva easily managed to play in Aguero on the edge of the area and the striker’s flicked cross found Sterling flying through to notch his 12th goal of the season.
The second goal saw City take the foot off the peddle as they became content to move the ball around the park without much intent as Bournemouth looked like they were chasing shadows.
They soon regained their attacking intent, however, as Silva cut inside two Cherries defenders from the right-hand side before trying to find the top-left corner with his effort rising over the crossbar.
Aguero then extended their advantage when he found himself on the end of a fantastic cross from substitute Bernardo Silva to beat Begovic at close range.
Substitute Danilo added the fourth goal with five minutes left as he beat Begovic with a low shot into the bottom corner of the net to wrap up the scoring.
#PEP: Always you have doubts after a lot of games in a row if mentally, you are ready to do it again and again. That impressed me the most about the guys. That they were ready.#cityvafcb #mancity pic.twitter.com/pzBvgzhWsy
