Wenger: Ozil happy to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is convinced that Mesut Ozil is happy to stay at the club, despite the star playmaker stopping short of signing a new contract.

The Germany international's current deal with the Gunners is due to expire at the end of the season, which has continued to fuel speculation regarding his potential exit.

Premier League rivals Manchester United have been linked with the 29-year-old, with manager Jose Mourinho having previously worked with Ozil during his time at Real Madrid.

However, Wenger believes Ozil will stay in north London and sign a new contract. He said, according to Goal: “No, I believe he wants to stay. He is not to be convinced.”

When asked if there is a need for contract discussions with the German, Wenger added: “Let us do that and let’s not talk about it.”
