Ibra and Pogba back in action for United

Manchester United have been given a shot in the arm with the news that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, and Marcos Rojo will be in the squad to face Newcastle on Saturday.

Ibrahimovic suffered a cruciate ligament injury in April and hasn’t played for the Red Devils this season, while Pogba has been out since September with a hamstring injury. Rojo has also not featured this term due to a cruciate ligament injury.

When asked about the three men, manager Jose Mourinho revealed in his pre-match press conference that “all three will be selected”.

He added: “Paul you can see. Clearly you can see there was a Manchester United this season before and after his injury.

“He has qualities that influence our approach in matches.”

On Ibrahimovic, Mourinho added: “Last season we played with Zlatan every minute.

“(We have) learned how to play without him. Of course we welcome him back. He is an incredible personality.”

Ibrahimovic last played for United before they acquired fellow striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton for an initial £75m, and Mourinho is confident the two men can play together.

“Good players can play together,” said the Portuguese. “With good players, it is easy to play together.

“We can’t expect him (Ibrahimovic) to play full 90 minutes or consecutive matches. He needs time to be back to his level – fitness and sharpness is everything.”
