Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has attempted to manage the fans' expectations in the transfer window, declaring that top players won't be signed.
The Magpies have only added centre-back Florian Lejeune and winger Christian Atsu to their squad thus far, paying £8.8m and £6.2m respectively.
Benitez admitted that he needs to strengthen further as his side prepare for the rigours of the Premier League, but added that he will have to look for players that are not world beaters.
"It's important to have more additions, we need to improve the squad," Benitez said, according to The Mag."We are not signing top class players in the Premier League.
"We are signing the players we can and the players who can do a job for us."
