Former Newcastle star David Ginola believes manager Rafael Benitez should be shown more support by those in charge at the club.
Benitez stayed at St James' Park when the Toon were relegated from the Premier League in 2016 and led them to the Championship title to earn promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
However, the Tynesiders seem to have made it difficult for the Spaniard to bring in the players he deems necessary to compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.
Benitez is reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, Eibar centre-back Florian Lejeune and free-agent goalkeeper Willy Caballero, but has so far only added loanee Christian Atsu on a permanent basis.
"You need to provide a manager like Rafa Benitez with all the amenities to help him be successful in the Premier League," Ginola told talkSPORT.
"Just give him the possibility and the chance [to be successful]. The fans are so happy to be back in the Premier League and they need to see the club a little bit more involved [in the market].
"You can't just stand there and watch around. Players will go around and sign for clubs and all of a sudden it is too late."
