Manchester City and Liverpool are going toe-to-toe for the 2018/19 Premier League title. The Red currently lead the Citizens by two points, but the latter do have a game in hand. With four weeks to go till the conclusion of this epic title race, Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has predicted his winner.
For Manchester United fans, it is the ultimate nightmare. On one hand, a defeat against Manchester City on Tuesday, April 24 will almost certainly ensure their noisy neighbours a title victory. A win, on the other hand, will see the championship go to Liverpool for the first time in Premier League history.
The fans are divided between where the title should end up. However, club great Sir Alex Ferguson already has his prediction ready concerning the 2018/19 Premier League Champions.
As revealed by Jonathan Walters, Ferguson has picked Liverpool over Manchester City to lift the title, owing to the fact that the latter still has to play Manchester United.
“I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I’m gonna drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,’ Walters told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast (via Daily Mail).
“He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are going win it.
“He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.”
The title run-in does indeed favour the Merseysiders over the Manchester giants. While Liverpool have smooth sailing from here till the end of the season, Manchester City still have to play both Manchester United and Tottenham.
