Jose Mourinho is never short of providing entertainment, and the Portuguese was at it again as he discussed the crucial Liverpool vs Chelsea Premier League encounter this weekend.
Ahead of this crunch match, most of the talk is about what transpired a few years ago when Liverpool found themselves in a similar situation, fighting with Manchester City for the league title.
Can title-chasers Liverpool overcome in-form Eden Hazard and Chelsea?
In a game against Chelsea, the Reds were defeated 2-0 by Jose Mourinho’s men and as a result missed a chance to win their first ever Premier League trophy.
The game that day was lost partly because of a slip by Steven Gerrard to hand Chelsea their first goal, and Mourinho remembers it very clearly.
“Liverpool-Chelsea in the Premier League is a big one, for many reasons,” Mourinho told Russia Today.
“Chelsea needs points. It’s a must-win for both. And to add something more to the game, the last time Liverpool were almost winning the title it was Chelsea who spoiled the celebration at Anfield,” Mourinho recalled.
“I’m pretty sure people have that in mind. For me that’s the big game of the weekend.”
And it sure is the big game of the weekend. With Chelsea looking to secure a top four finish, and Liverpool aiming for the title, it is all on the line in this encounter.
