Dimitar Berbatov and Cristiano Ronaldo played together for Manchester United in the 2008/09 season and combined to devastating effect on more than one occasion – including in a wonder goal against West Ham.
However, the goal was all down to Dimitar Berbatov’s individual brilliance and skill as the Bulgarian produced an incredible turn and flick to get past the Hammers’ defender before laying the ball on the platter for Ronaldo to poke home into the net.
Manchester United’s Instagram page uploaded a video of the assist and the goal and the striker was caught commenting on it – poking fun at Cristiano Ronaldo.
The comment read ‘the easiest goal Cristiano has ever scored’.
Berbatov played 149 times for Manchester United, scoring 59 goals and assisting 27 more.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, turned out 292 times for the Red Devils, scoring 118 goals and assisting 68 more, before going on to Real Madrid where he ended up breaking their goal scoring records.
He then transferred to Serie A giants Juventus at the beginning of the season and has been pivotal in guiding them to the Champions League quarterfinals where they play Ajax in the second leg at Turin, with the score tied at 1-1.
