Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Dani Alves has become the most decorated player in football history with the club’s Ligue 1 title win.
The Paris-based outfit secured the French league with Lille drawing against Toulouse and PSG registering a 3-1 win over AS Monaco. Though there are five matches left to be played in the league season, second-placed Lille now have no mathematical chance to overtake PSG on the league table.
And with this win, former Barcelona fullback Dani Alves became the most successful player in football history as he now has 42 trophies to his name in a career spanning over 18 years, which has seen the Brazilian international play in his home country, along with Spain, Italy and France.
His most decorated spell was with Barcelona where he won 23 trophies, followed by his stay in Paris, where he has won five trophies, including the 2018/19 Ligue 1 title. At Juventus, the Brazilian won two trophies, while at Sevilla he won five.
With his first club, Bahia, Alves won three trophies while with the Brazil national team, he has won another four. The PSG star overtook Egyptian icon Hossam Hassan, who has 41 accolades to his name.
Andres Iniesta, Maxwell and another decorated Egyptian footballer Ibrahim Hassan have 37 honours each.
RECORD: the PSG title means that Dani Alves becomes the MOST TITLED player in the history of football!
