Lionel Messi has had a sensational run this season, and is already an early favourite to win the Ballon D’or award for his performances.
The Barcelona man has been prolific in terms of his scoring and assists, leading the way in Europe as a result.
Messi leads the way with 33 goals from 30 matches in La Liga, thus making him the highest scoring player in Europe’s top five leagues.

But his reign at the top is being drastically reduced thanks to one Ligue 1 superstar.
That of course, being Kylian Mbappe from PSG. The striker scored a hat-trick that secured the domestic crown for the Parisians, and is now closing in on Messi’s scoring record.
Mbappe has 27 goals from 26 appearances in the league, thus putting him narrowly behind the Argentine in goal scoring form for the season.
With the league wrapped up, Mbappe could have a free run in going for goals as the season comes to a close, and Messi may well be forced to give up top spot if this continues.
