Pique: I’ll end career at Barca

The Spain international, who has made 204 appearances for the Catalan club since re-joining in 2008, has been linked with a move away from the La Liga outfit in recent months with former club Manchester United thought to be in the race for his signature.

United boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to to strengthen his side???s defence ahead of a possible title tilt next season.

However, any plans to add Pique, who spent four years at United between 2004 and 2008 before heading back to Barcelona, to his squad looks to have been dealt a serious blow, with the defender claiming he will end his career at the Camp Nou.

The 28-year-old told the Spanish radio show El partido de las 12: ???I love this profession more and more each day and I???d like to keep on playing.

???I can safely say that I plan to retire here at Barca, whether that???s at the end of this season or six years from now. I won???t play for another club.???

Barcelona???s bid to win the La Liga title continues on Sunday when they host Levante.

Luis Enrique???s side, who took a commanding 3-1 first leg lead in their Copa del Rey semi-final against Villarreal in midweek, are just one point behind Real Madrid at the top of the table after a run of five straight victories in the league and they will be hoping to pile the pressure on their rivals with another victory.
