A video surfaced online following the club???s match with Girona in the Segunda Division on Saturday, showing a section of fans chanting their support for striker Ruben Castro, who was charged with four counts of domestic violence in December.
In response Spain’s Anti-Violence Commission has urged the Spanish FA to shut part of the south stand in the Estadio Benito Villamar??n, while also encouraging fans to come forward to identify those responsible.
La Liga officials will meet next week to deliberate the commission???s proposal.
Betis president Juan Carlos Ollero condemned the chanting but was quoted in The Guardian saying,?????punishment should be directed to those behind the chants and not the club.”
