Paulinho: I’m extremely grateful

Paulinho says he is grateful for the way he has been received by his new Barcelona teammates.

The Brazilian former Corinthians, Tottenham Hotspur and Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder has scored twice in two games for Barca since his arrival.

The 29-year-old netted the winning goal in the 2-1 defeat of Getafe on Saturday before scoring in the 6-1 victory over Eibar where Lionel Messi scored four.

There were question marks raised as to why the Primera Division side might want a combative player like Paulinho, but he has quickly answered his critics with his performances for his new club.

Speaking to Marca, he said: "My welcome at the club has been fantastic and I’m extremely grateful.

“Playing with great players always makes things easier and everyone has been helpful in allowing me to quickly adapt to the team.

“It’s important that everyone feels this happiness as it allows us all to play better and I can help my teammates in meeting our aims and ambitions for the season."
