Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista has parted company with Arsenal after joining Spanish side Valencia.
Gabriel made 64 appearances during two-and-a-half years at the Emirates, yet struggled to consistently hold down a spot in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI.
The Brazilian international has now moved to La Liga for an undisclosed fee – mooted to be around the £10million mark – after penning a five-year contract with Valencia.

“We would like to thank Gabriel for his contribution to the club and to wish him well for his return to La Liga with Valencia,” said an Arsenal statement.
Gabriel won FA Cup winners medals with Arsenal in 2015 and 2017 after being used at both centre-half and right-back.

But his departure will not necessarily signal a move into the transfer market for another defender. There are five senior centre-halves still at Wenger’s disposal, while left-backs Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac also played in a back three on the opening day of the Premier League season.
