Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane taunts Barcelona with 33 La Liga titles jibe

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has taken a dig at Barcelona by claiming Real Madrid are still the best in Spain as they have more La Liga titles.

Barcelona are 16 points ahead of third-placed Madrid on the league table and Los Blancos are mathematically out of contention for the league title. This would be the Catalan club’s 26th La Liga title, seven fewer than Real Madrid’s 33.

When quizzed about Barcelona’s performance in the league this season in a pre-match press conference, Madrid manager was quick to take a dig at them, saying ‘We have 33 Liga titles’.

He also added that he would like to win La Liga more than the Champions League next season.

“La Liga is very important. It’s the daily objective,” he told reporters. “It’s going to be our first objective for the next season.

“We have 33 Liga titles. How many do Barcelona have? It’s true they are doing great in the last few years, and we have to recognise them, but in our history there are many more titles. For me it’s the most important title to fight for.”
