As we all know by now, Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid left a huge void in the team, and the club representatives have not yet been able to proper replacement for the legend.
After nine immensely-succesful seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, the five-time Ballon D’Or winner shifted base to Italian giants Juventus in June 2018.
And since then, Los Blancos have not failed to impres s across competitions, having eliminated from the Champions League and the Copa del Rey this season, apart from facing a premature exit from the La Liga title race as well.
Meanwhile, former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello claimed that the Merengues‘ rivals are no longer scared of them thanks to the departure of the Portuguese talisman.
“I always say that Real Madrid and Barcelona start matches winning 1-0 and if you want to beat them you have to score at least two goals,” Capello said while speaking at the World Soccer Congress.
“But this year Madrid have lacked the 1-0, and have started at 0-0 like the others and that’s why they have faced so many difficulties,” he continued, before adding:
“Now we see what is happening at Juventus with Cristiano as, with the Portuguese, the opposition defenders were very scared before and now they are not.”
Capello who has also coached AC Milan, Roma and Juventus, concluded his brief talk by saying that Zinedine Zidane – who was recently reappointed as manager at Real Madrid – definitely had the ability to turn things around for the club.
With the summer transfer window coming soon, Madrid are expected to be busy in reshaping their squad, in a bid to get back to their usual position at the top of Europe’s club charts.
