As we all know, Real Madrid is looking for ways by which can they can bolster their squad for the upcoming season, and with Zinedine Zidane at the helm, the Spanish giants seem to have chalked out a plan in going forward.
In addition to big names such as Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba, Sadio Mane, Neymar Jr., Christian Eriksen and so on who are already linked with the club, it now appears that Zidane and co. are looking to acquire the services of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.
It will not be a problem for the Merengues to look for several purchases in the upcoming summer, thanks to their overflowing coffers which are all Zidane’s for the taking, provided he can perform a total squad overhaul.
The Daily Mirror reported that the English winger is on Real Madrid’s radar at the moment, having already attracted sufficient interest from the club since late 2014, when Zidane had publicly mentioned that they were “monitoring him as a player”.
It has also been reported that Real Madrid have been scouting him since last summer, while the 24-year old continued his growth as a player under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
In the ongoing season, Sterling has been in great form for the sky-blue outfit, having scored 19 times and made 16 assists in 39 club appearances so far. He is currently one of Manchester City’s biggest driving forces in their run for a poential trophy-laden season this time.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is under pressure to keep some of their best players in the side itself, in the light of a probable transfer ban. It was only in November 2018 that Sterling signed a new £300,000-a-week contract that would last until 2023.
While the Los Blancos have already exited the Champions and the Copa Del Rey this season along with harbouring nearly non-existent hopes for a La Liga triumph, Manchester City are still going strong in the title races for the English Premier League, The FA Cup and the Champions League. They already won the Carabao cup a few weeks ago.
