It is no secret that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has a say in his club’s transfer matters, and it now appears that the Argentine is pushing his club management to sign another player on his demands.
The player under concern here is Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, who is regarded as one of the best right-backs right now. Kimich has delivered consistent performances for club and country in the past few seasons, and is now in Barcelona’s radar as per DiarioGol.
Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto are the two main players that the Catalans employ as their right-backs nowadays. While Semedo is relatively young and inexperienced, Sergi Roberto is used more as a versatile substitute option, given his ability to fit in anywhere along the right flank or even as a central midfielder.
Joshua Kimmich seems the right upgrade for Barcelona hence, says DiarioGol. Barcelona have always been on the lookout for players to spruce up their right wing, and just like Sergi Roberto, Kimmich is believed to have the ability to provide a stable backing to Lionel Messi – while also concentrating on defensive duties such as tracking the opposing team’s left-winger(s).
Ernesto Valverde and co. have been strong in the La Liga and the Copa del Rey for many seasons now, but the same cannot be spoken with reference to the Champions League. They are yet to win Europe’s most prestigious footballing title since their last succesful conquest of the same in 2015.
It is due to such reasons, that it is being estimated that the German’s arrival to Barcelona could act as the added boost to finally help them cross the finish line, in Europe as well.
