Real Madrid are on the cusp of sacking caretaker boss Santiago Solari and appointing Jose Mourinho as manager on an immediate basis, suggest reports.
TeleMadrid report that the powers that be at Real Madrid are locked in an emergency meeting aimed at sacking caretaker boss Santiago Solari and appointing his successor, Jose Mourinho, immediately.
The axe will fall on Solari after Real Madrid’s disastrous run of results recently, having lost twice to Barcelona and to Ajax at the Bernabeu, resulting in them exiting the Cope del Rey and the Champions League in quick succession.
Mourinho open to sensational Real Madrid return
Zinedine Zidane is the club’s first choice to replace the Argentine, but is not keen to take the job before the beginning of the next season – a timeframe that the club isn’t comfortable with.
Hence, Jose Mourinho is left as the only option with president Florentino Perez also keen to engineer a return to the club for the Portuguese tactician. Recent reports that emerged suggested that Mourinho has been locked in negotiations with Florentino Perez for months now, even dating back to the time that he was still manager at Manchester United.
It would appear that they have finally come to a mutually beneficial resolution with those talks.
