Erik Ten Hag says a draw with Zenit Saint Petersburg on Wednesday night would give FC Utrecht a good chance of progressing in the Europa League.
The Eredivisie side take on the experienced Russian Premier League team in their Play-off round first leg tie, at Stadion Galgenwaard, having beaten both Valletta and Lech Poznan with opening fixture stalemates.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, Ten Hag acknowledged the size of the task ahead for his team.
He said: “You always hope that for a European match that you can name your strongest team as that enhances your possibilities.
”I watched Zenit St Petersburg 5-1 win in the Russian league against Spartak Moscow it was very impressive. Zenit Saint Petersburg are a big club with many good players. The club has many facets that belong to top European football. But we definitely have a chance tomorrow.
”A 0-0 draw tomorrow as in the home match against Lech Poznan would provide us with perspective going into the second leg in Russia.”
