It is not just the fate of the UEFA Champions League clubs that was decided in Nyon, but also that of the UEFA Europa League 2018-19 club who found out their opponents for the quarterfinals of the competition. 

And the UEFA Europa League draw indeed presented some exciting fixtures in the quarterfinal stage.

2013 champions Chelsea will face Czech Republic’s Slavia Prague, who knocked out five-time record Europa League champions Sevilla in the previous round.

Arsenal, looking for a silverware during Unai Emery’s first season in charge, will face Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli.

Villarreal who have reached the semifinals in 2004, 2011 and 2016 will take on 2004 winners Valencia CF in a Spanish derby.

Benfica, who dropped down from the UCL after finishing third behind Bayern Munich and AFC Ajax in their Champions League group, will face Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt who sent Serie A giants Inter Milan packing in the Round of 16.


Chelsea, Arsenal, Napoli, Valencia CF, Slavia Prague, Eintracht Frankfurt, Villarreal and Benfica were the eight teams involved in the draw for the last-eights of the Europa League this season after progressing from the Round of 16.

The first leg of the quarterfinals are to be played on April 11 followed by the second leg a week later on April 18.

The semifinals first leg will be held on May 2 followed by the second leg on May 9.

The final of the 2018-19 season of the UEFA Europa League will be held at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 29, 2019.

QF2 – Villarreal vs Valencia CF

QF3 – Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt
